A special duet, using an MP3 track
My mother and I sing in choirs but we’ve never sung together. Her 93rd birthday was coming up and we decided it would be a good time to try a duet – we chose a familiar song, but it meant mum would have to learn the harmony while I sang the melody. We couldn’t rehearse because we live 100km apart, and Zoom doesn’t lend itself to singing together because of the time lag. So I created an MP3 track and mum used that to learn her part – here is the (unrehearsed, unpractised!) result:
How I create practice files
Here is a short demonstration of how I create the MP3 files on this site.
Showing my gratitude for your generous donations
I’m over the moon about donations of any amount – I’d love to show this by taking requests from you or your choir to create MP3s for music you’d like to practise. If you aren’t sure what to ask for, here is a way to think about it:
- If you donate $10 CDN, I could create practice files for your a capella score, or a short piece (about 30-40 bars) with piano.
- If you donate $20 CDN, I could create practice files for your score with piano, up to 20 pages.
- If you donate more than $20 CDN, my joy will know few bounds – let’s discuss what I can do for you!
This is not a price list however – if you can’t afford to donate anything, or you can’t donate as much as I suggest, but you have some music you’d like to see here, let me know and I will prioritize it.
